Grace Home Story

In 2013, the idea of Grace Home began with a small church and the desire to make a difference in the lives of young women who found themselves alone, pregnant and without any options to continue their pregnancies. The questions soon became: “How?” and “What can we do?” The need to help women who were caught in difficult circumstances became their passion as the Lord began to shape the vision.

Initially church members considered opening up their own homes to provide support, a safe place and a new beginning but they quickly saw the Lord was doing something bigger. The church took a giant step of faith and began to raise funds to open a maternity home in the community of Blanchard.

In early 2014, the needed funds were in place and the foundation was poured for Grace Home. Over the next year Grace Home was built debt-free. During this time Grace Home had become its own independent 501(c)(3) and had hired staff that had been trained by ministry partners across the US. On May 9, 2015, Grace Home opened its doors with an open house and community celebration. We were excited about helping the women in our area.

Two weeks after opening, Grace Home was destroyed by a tornado on May 23, 2015. Fortunately no one in the home was hurt. As the staff emerged from the safe room it was discovered the roof was gone and water damage destroyed everything inside. Members of the community and ministry partners arrived to help us move into a temporary location.

After a lot of prayer and evaluation it was decided to rebuild and open Grace Home in its temporary location. The story of the tornado became part of the Grace Home story as we worked through the mess to get to a place of restoration and hope.

In April of 2016 we moved back into the rebuilt original residence. Today we have a beautiful 6 bedroom home on 5 peaceful acres that provides a lovely home for pregnant women in difficult circumstances. We get to see miracles happen at Grace Home as women step of the chaos and find support to build a new foundation in their lives. Through new skills and tools each woman has the opportunity to find hope for a new and brighter future for themselves and their babies
